Domestic Adoption

The Episcopal Sisters of St. Mary founded St. Mary’s Services on the belief that every child deserves a good home. The staff at St. Mary’s has followed this philosophy for more than 120 years. We place infants of every race and ethnic origin. In order to provide children with loving homes, we take great pride in working closely with our adoptive families to ensure that you receive the proper preparation, guidance and support to build your family through adoption. Your expectations and the needs of our birth parents are mutually respected.

As a prospective adoptive parent, you might be wondering what program you should pursue. Beginning with your initial contact with St. Mary’s, your counselor will help you determine this. Through the Domestic Program, St. Mary’s offers adoption services to families looking to adopt newborns within Illinois. We also work with couples who have identified birth mothers in other states. Couples in the Domestic Program receive preparation and counseling services including general adoption education, home studies, placement and post-placement support. St. Mary’s places newborns of every race and ethnic origin. 

As such, St. Mary’s Domestic Program includes four sub-programs:
