Mick and Jeanne
Dear Birthparents,
Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile. We understand that you're going through a very trying time in your lives right now and how difficult this must be for you.
We would like to tell you a little bit about us, we are Michael (Mick) and Jeanne and have been married for 8 wonderful years, but have been together for 11 years. We have a solid marriage based on faith, respect, trust and a healthy dose a humor. Our home is filled with love and laughter everyday. We moved from downtown Chicago to a large four bedroom house in the southwest suburbs of Chicago with our precious adopted son John, who will be 4 at the end of February. We also have 2 beloved dogs, Rudi and Satchel, which John adores! Our neighborhood is full of kids and has excellent schools. The kids love to hop from yard to yard, playing until the sun goes down! We value the closeness we feel in this community. We occasionally miss the cultural offerings of the city, but get down there as often as we can to take advantage of living so close to an exciting Metropolitan area.
Who we are (in the words of our spouse)
Mick is an amazing husband and friend. He is the most loving, kind hearted person I know, and we love each other very much. Knowing him has made me a better person, and I endeavor to mirror those qualities. It is an amazing thing to have someone on this earth who loves us enough that would walk through fire for me and the people he loves…not that that is a requirement of course! Getting to our day to day, Mick is an Engineer and loves his work. He is an excellent father and what I would describe as the consummate family man. He's loves to cook (good for us!) and enjoys showing off his culinary skills to our whole family. They are wowed by his skills in the kitchen. My brother said Mick has ruined restaurants for him because they now leave him somewhat disappointed. He is also a skilled gardener, and it seems as though he can grow just about anything, including 8 different kinds of Garlic (apparently there are hundreds!). In addition, he can fix just about anything, which always amazes me, but he learns that from his father. His Father was a High School principal and his Mother was a Professor of Nursing at Bradley University and was the head of the department. Both have recently retired. He is the oldest of 3 and is very close with his sister, brother and parents. Mick is very active in many sports and played baseball at the college level, while graduating with honors. Best of all he is very family oriented. He is a great big brother to his sister Michelle and brother, Dan; and a great Uncle to their children.
Jeanne is the youngest of eight children and is very close with all of her brothers and sisters. She has a business degree and was in sales for many years and left her full-time career when John came home so she could devote her time to him. In addition, she has a successful home based business with her position as a free-lance consultant in the same industry she once worked full-time in. She is the type of person that people naturally gravitate towards due to her naturally friendly quality. She also enjoys several sports, but really loves softball and golf. In addition she loves to read whenever she has downtime, and is quite the history buff and Lincoln aficionado! Jeanne is a wonderful mother who really enjoys all the simple pleasures life has to offer and gives you everyday. She's smart, very thoughtful, kind and generous. She loves celebrating holidays, birthdays and special occasions. She would never celebrate a birthday without a home baked cake and makes them very special. On top of all that she is known for her tremendous sense of humor.
At the heart of who we are: Family
We live very close to most of John's 17 cousins and see them several times a week and are able to do many activities together. Friday night is pizza and movie night in the winter and barbeque in the backyard or a neighborhood hide and go seek game in the summer. Ours is the house where everyone gathers for holiday dinners or New Year's brunches, we love to entertain and look forward to the house filled with our big family and the laughter that goes with it.
We are so very blessed with John and cannot put into words how he has changed our lives. We've grown as a couple and our love has expanded because of him. We would like to add to our family through adoption once again. John is so excited to be a big brother! We would be honored to be chosen as parents and big brother to your baby, and would strive to provide the best possible life for them, in every way.
