International Adoption Requirements

St. Mary’s takes great pride in finding loving, stable homes for children. We ask that all couples interested in working with St. Mary’s to adopt meet the following requirements.

• Be in a stable marriage for at least two years.
  
  
• Be at least 23 years of age.
  
  
• Demonstrate financial stability.
  
  
• Live a healthy lifestyle.
  
  
• One spouse must be a United States citizen.
  
  
• Complete the adoption process requirements:
  
  
• Attend a St. Mary’s orientation meeting.
  
  
• Complete all adoption and licensing paperwork.
  
  
• Complete the home study process, which includes a series of interviews, home visit and mandatory adoption education information.
  
  
• Meet the adoption requirements of the child’s country of origin and those of the placing agency.
