All seminars are open to the public. There is a $40 per person fee that is non-refundable. This fee does not apply to families that have been accepted into St. Mary’s domestic program.

 

 

Becoming a Transracial Adoptive Family

Saturday, August 17, 2019; 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
St. Mary’s Services – 510 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine

Adopting a child of a different race presents unique complexities for a family. Transracial families will share their experiences and topics such as community, celebrating their heritage and racism will be discussed. The seminar will also help waiting families understand how the adoptee’s identity changes as they age and how to address the child’s questions and concerns with age appropriate answers. Effects of Prenatal Substance Exposure on the Developing Fetus and Managing Behaviors

Saturday, September 14, 2019; 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
St. Mary’s Services – 510 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine

Dr. Dan Griffith, licensed clinical pediatric psychologist, will speak in detail about the effects prenatal substance and alcohol exposure have on the developing fetus as well as managing children’s behaviors at different developmental stages. Click here to register.

 

Programs are not appropriate for children* and babysitting services are not available. One credit given per seminar hour attended. Cash or check are accepted day of the seminar.
