St Mary’s Services/Hopeful Beginnings offers first year internships for counseling and/or social work students working towards their Master’s Degree. Internships are expected to begin August 16, 2017 and continue until June 1, 2018. Interns will work hand in hand with the Teen Parenting Coordinator in conjunction with our Teen Parenting Program contracted through High School District 214. Interns will work with these students by having the opportunity to facilitate 2-3 weekly group counseling sessions, provide options counseling, complete assessments, and provide referrals and individual counseling as needed. St Mary’s Services/ Hopeful Beginnings also provides opportunities for students to participate in outreach events with staff and attend clinical and staff meetings. Typically, hours will be from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m, however, students should have some flexibility in schedule to attend some evening/weekend events throughout the fiscal year. Students will need to have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation – due to driving to various high schools in the northwest suburbs. Days available for internships include: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
