Gosia: Growing up in a suburb (back in Poland) has allowed my siblings and me a lot of freedom; we were always running around with all the neighborhood kids, inventing our own games or exploring the nature. I think playing “house” was one of my favorites, where we would draw the outline of the walls of all the rooms in our “house”, and make mud pies.
Lukasz: Spending time with my brother and cousins at my grandparents’ house brings up the best memories. I think having a big family with lots of kids is great. Although there was always a lot of work around the house and in the garden, there was always time for play. My favorite memories are from the summers, when we would spend our days biking in the neighborhood or playing soccer, and then organizing bonfires at night with our friends.
We both love watching all sorts of movies, from comedies, action movies to dramas. Our favorite movies are what we call the “classics” including all parts of the “Iron Man” and the “Transformers”. For some reason we can watch these movies, over and over. Few of all time favorite TV shows are “The Office”, “Modern Family,” “Homeland,” “Walking Dead,” and our new favorite “This is Us.”
“Instant Mom” by Nia Vardalos. And yes, Gosia did read all of the “Twilight” books. Lukasz enjoys reading about history.
We both enjoy working on do-it-yourself projects around the house. We have been remodeling our house for few years now, taking one project at a time. Gardening is another hobby we enjoy and we hope to have a veggie garden in our backyard. Gosia also likes photography, and Lukasz is interested in computers and likes to keep up with the new technology.
Honestly, there are too many to name! ? Recently, chicken alfredo fettuccine, pulled pork, or pork chops with homemade fries are few of our favorites. We like all kinds of food, but we usually prefer anything that we can prepare on our own, especially the Polish dishes. And of course, every good meal has to be followed up with some chocolate for desert. We love chocolate!
Our honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
An annual family tent camping trip and water park weekend getaway – it is always a blast.
Probably one of our favorite holiday memories is getting our first Christmas tree together. It was a task getting the tree attached on top of our little car to bring it home, but it was all worth it at the end. The smell of the tree really made it feel like Christmas. This was the first time we opted to get a live tree, instead of an artificial one, and we have been doing that ever since.
Gosia: Gosia has a square thumb – she cut her finger when she was very little, and when it all healed a scar remained making the thumb appear square. Gosia holds a high school diploma from a Polish school which she attended on Saturdays.
Lukasz: Lukasz has a t-shirt that states “Mr. Fix-it” because he really can fix almost anything. Just to be a little different, Lukasz decided to take Gosia’s last name when we got married.
Both: We are both fluent in the Polish language. We met online, and recently our story was featured in a Polish-language newspaper in Chicago 😉
